Five Easy Tips to Help You Survive College Life

College is the start of a new chapter in many people’s lives. It is a place where you expand your knowledge and get ready for your life as an adult. Despite how exciting college can be, it can make you feel like you are drowning if you are not on the right track.

Keeping up with your social life, cramming for exams, and trying to make it to your deadlines while trying to get some sleep in seems impossible for one human. Thankfully, you will be glad to know that you can live a successful life at college without forgoing your precious hours of beauty sleep. Here are five tips to help you get through college smoothly.

The Library

Make use of what your campus has to offer. The library is one of the best and free places to study. It is quiet and peaceful, along with having a multitude of books with all the information you need. It is also a perfect place to have group study session with your friends. Since it is specifically for learning, it will help motivate you to get in a productive mood and be able to study better.

Keep Organized

Being organized can be extremely beneficial for you in the end. It will help you stay on top of things and be prepared. For example, keeping a journal and having post its around where you can see them is a great idea. You will be able to know when the deadlines are, errands, etc. You will be able to prioritize your time accordingly and be able to follow a schedule that will make you ready at all times.

Close Your Phone

You would be surprised at how much time one can waste just by scrolling through social media. Try to take a step back from Facebook now and then. Shut off your phone during the hours that you study so that you won’t be distracted by notifications. You can also use your phone as a reward. For example, make yourself finish a certain amount of tasks or study hours before allowing yourself to go on social media. That way, you will be saving time and become more productive.

Eating Properly

If you are not careful, the “Freshman 15” will quickly catch up to you. It can be very easy for college students to gain weight, as they are usually too preoccupied with their studies to think about what they’re eating. You don’t have to follow a strict diet to stay healthy. Just be sure to eat snacks and other junk food in moderation. You can start small by creating good eating habits. For example, try to skip sodas and other sugar-filled drinks as often as possible. Try to make your own coffee in your dorm instead of buying a sugary Frappuccino, as it will save you both money and the extra calories.

Hitting the Sack

Don’t forget to give your body the rest that it deserves. If you are sleep deprived, your brain won’t function properly. This means that when you are studying, you won’t be able to absorb the information or forget it the next day fully. You can also take naps to give your body a quick break. Be sure to be strategic with the times that you nap. If you take a nap too late in the day, you may not be able to sleep at night. One of the best times you can take a nap is during the early afternoon. That way, you will have enough energy for the rest of the day and be sleepy by bedtime.

College might be scary to some people, but it doesn’t have to be. By using your college campus resources, staying organized, getting rid of distractions, and taking care of your body, you will be surprised at how great your life at college will be.
